Ever feel like there aren't enough hours in the day to get it all done? This strategy has helped me combat this myth and be more productive than ever before. I want to share with you how time blocking for your direct sales business can help you be more productive and allow you to manage every part of your life.

Listen to the words that you are saying to yourself

The first step in time management is to listen to the words you are saying to yourself. If you are telling yourself that you are too busy and don't have time to get it all done, then you are self-sabotaging. You are probably saying these things to other people too. When we are younger, we are used to structure. Then when we are an adult, we don't really have as much structure. So we need to be intentional about time blocking.

Do a Time Audit

For one day or one week take inventory of your time. Pay attention and track how long it actually takes you to do something. A lot of the time you will find that you get off track and waste time scrolling social media or doing the dishes instead of what you were supposed to be doing. We typically stray from our task when we don't want to do them.

Once you do this, now you can make a time map. This has been a total game-changer for me! Time blocking has been the number one thing that has made a tremendous impact on my personal and business life.

How to Start Time Blocking

Here's a fun analogy: Let's say you have a perfectly organized refrigerator with all the containers and labels nicely stacked. Monday is the day I meet with my team. So I set aside time for team meetings and working on my business. Tuesday is the day is that I mostly work on my customers. I spend time following up, reaching out, packaging orders, etc. Wednesday is for party planning. I set up for parties, communicate with hostesses, and anything else related to the parties. And so on so forth for the week.

One tip I can give you is that you need to give yourself extra time for your tasks. Most of the time we think we can get it done in an hour, but it actually takes you two.

Set boundaries

One of the ways to make sure you can show up and be all in in each area of your life, you need to set up some hard boundaries. The whole point of time blocking is to make sure you get everything done that you need to, but also so that you can give it your all. You don't need to be hanging out with your family and working on your business. We wear many hats and we can't wear two at once and do it well.

I hope these tips help you become more productive and allow you to manage it all. For a deeper dive head to our youtube channel here.
